Deductible expenses

Outside sales professionals typically have high mileage, travel, and client entertainment costs. All are deductible when properly documented.

  • Vehicle mileage (typically 20,000+ miles per year for sales roles)
  • Client meals (50% deductible)
  • Travel and lodging for business
  • Home office (if exclusive and regular use)
  • Phone, internet, sales software
  • Marketing materials and conferences

Quarterly estimates

1099 commission income requires quarterly estimated payments. Without them, you face underpayment penalties and a large April balance. We calculate and schedule the quarterly 1040-ES payments.
