Sales Tax Planning

Florida sales tax returns (DR-15) are due monthly for most businesses, and post-Wayfair nexus rules mean many online sellers owe sales tax in states they've never visited.

Florida sales tax (DR-15)

Most businesses file DR-15 monthly. Smaller businesses can file quarterly or annually based on annual tax liability. We handle the registration, monthly filings, and any correspondence with the Florida Department of Revenue.

Multi-state nexus

Since the Supreme Court's Wayfair decision, states can require out-of-state sellers to collect sales tax based on economic nexus: typically $100,000 in sales or 200 transactions in the state. We evaluate nexus exposure and register where you owe.

Marketplace facilitator rules

If you sell on Amazon, Etsy, or eBay, the platform collects and remits sales tax on your behalf in most states. You still may owe on direct-to-consumer sales or wholesale transactions. We sort what you owe from what the platform handles.

Common questions

Do I need to collect sales tax in every state I sell to?
No. You need to collect where you have nexus: either physical presence or economic nexus thresholds. Most states use $100,000 or 200 transactions as the trigger.
What if I've been ignoring sales tax for years?
Voluntary Disclosure Agreements exist in most states to come clean on back filings with reduced look-back periods and waived penalties. We handle the VDA filings.
Does Florida tax services?
Generally no. Florida taxes sales of tangible personal property. Most services are exempt, with specific exceptions for commercial rentals, some repairs, and a few others.
