Who we serve in South Florida
South Florida's economy is unusual. We file returns for snowbirds, retirees, real estate professionals, medical practices, restaurant and hospitality owners, marine-industry workers, and a growing base of tech and remote workers. Each has its own tax wrinkles, and the South Florida mix (high-income retirees, high-W-2 professionals, and self-employed operators) creates specific planning opportunities.
One practice across three counties
The full practice, available in person or remote.
- Personal income tax preparation (federal + state)
- S-corp, partnership, and corporate returns
- Bookkeeping, payroll, and QuickBooks support
- IRS and state audit representation
- Business formation and Florida compliance
Why local matters
Most of our non-remote work happens within a 30-minute drive of the office. Familiarity with Florida homestead, multi-state residency for snowbirds, and the hospitality-industry tax quirks comes from being here. National chain preparers rotate staff between offices every few years; we've been in the same Boynton Beach suite since 2005.
Snowbirds and the residency question
Splitting the year between Florida and a northern state is the most common planning situation we see across all three counties. The northern state usually keeps taxing you until you can show your domicile actually moved: a Florida declaration of domicile, homestead filing, driver's license, voter registration, and a calendar that supports it. We prepare the federal return, the part-year or nonresident return for the old state, and the paper trail that holds up if that state asks questions later.
Hurricane season and your tax deadlines
When a named storm hits and the county lands in a federal disaster declaration, the IRS typically postpones filing and payment deadlines for everyone in the declared area, and casualty losses from the storm may become deductible. The rules on insurance reimbursements, basis, and timing are easy to get wrong, so we walk clients through them after every major storm rather than leaving it to guesswork.
Common questions
- Do I have to come to the office to work with you?
- No. Many of our South Florida clients prefer a fully remote relationship through our secure document portal and phone/video calls.
- Do you take clients in Miami-Dade?
- Yes. Miami-Dade clients work with us almost entirely remotely: documents through the secure portal, meetings by phone or video, signatures electronically.
- I just moved to Florida. What changes on my taxes?
- Florida has no state income tax, so the big change is filing a final part-year return in your old state and documenting your new Florida domicile. Homestead on your new house is filed with the county property appraiser, not on the tax return.
- Can you deal with the IRS for me?
- Yes. Audit representation and IRS notice response are part of the regular practice, handled with a power of attorney so the IRS talks to us instead of you.
