IRS Audit Representation

Enrolled Agents are federally licensed to represent taxpayers in any state before the IRS. We respond, document, and negotiate so the audit resolves without escalation.

Types of audits

Correspondence audits are handled by mail. Office audits happen at an IRS office. Field audits happen at your home or place of business. All three are handled under the same representation privilege, and most of the work happens before any in-person meeting.

What we do

File Form 2848 to become your representative, take over all IRS communication, gather and organize documentation, respond to Information Document Requests, negotiate disputed items, and file any required appeals or Tax Court petitions.

Have a specific situation?
Call the office and a human answers.

Working with out-of-state taxpayers

Federal representation has no state residency requirement. We've represented clients in audits from every region of the country without either party leaving their home state.

Common questions

Will I have to talk to the IRS?
Generally no. Once Form 2848 is filed, the IRS communicates with us. You stay informed through our updates.
How long does an audit take?
Correspondence audits often resolve in 3–6 months. Office and field audits can run 6–18 months from initial contact to closure.
What does audit representation cost?
We scope based on audit type and complexity. Simple correspondence audits often resolve for under $2,000. Complex field audits run much higher.
